Delta2D 3.4 released: SmartVectors available now!
When beta testers of our new Delta2D version 3.4 started using our SmartVectorsTM they were delighted because it saved them so much time in the gel image warping. Reactions included "Now I only need 10-15 minutes for what took me 4 hours before" and "the overall warping process is faster by a factor of 5".
Our customers saw that after 100% Spot Matching removed matching problems and significantly decreased the need for spot editing, warping is where most of the remaining time is spent in analyzing an experiment.
With SmartVectorsTM, Delta2D automatically sets vectors that connect corresponding spots. The correspondences are presented as match vectors just like those that you would set by hand. In most gel regions these correspondences are perfect, and it is easy to verify them by using warping and dual channel images.
Because of the good combination of automatic work and user checking this approach is very productive. Essentially, you just check a region if it is well warped. If not, let Delta2D use approved correspondences to find better matching in that region. The whole process can be iterated: let Delta2D find match vectors, approve match vectors, let Delta2D find new match vectors again until the warping is complete. Usually, in each step dozens of new valid vectors are found.
