Labeling Spots
You can add labels to any spot, and to any place on an image. Labels are used to highlight interesting spots, to attach protein names and other annotations, and to control spot picking robots.
Using label's text and color you can convey additional information such as a protein's predicted isoelectric point or molecular weight.

In order to label spots or work with labels, you have to select the Label Tool first.
Click on the last button in the vertical tool panel at the left of the dual view window.
Creating Labels
Having selected the Label Tool, just click anywhere on the image: An arrow will be created together with a text field stating 'Click here to edit ...'.
Click in this field and type in some text for the label. If you want to change the text of a label, just click inside the text.
In the Dual View window, new labels will be created on the blue colored image by default, in our example 'control_01'.
To create a label on the other image simply hold down the SHIFT key while clicking or switch to the single view of this image.
Drag the arrow to move the whole label and let it point to another position, or drag the text field to replace it properly.
Whenever a label is pointing inside the boundaries of a spot, it will be assigned to this spot and appear in the respective row of the quantitation tables.
Labels can also be edited or created in the the label column of the spot table. You can create a lot of labels in one operation by using the items in the Labels menu.
Moving Labels to Other Images
After the warping is done Delta2D knows exactly how to eliminate the running differences between all the gels in your project.
This can be used to conveniently transfer labels from one gel image to another. For instance, you might keep all protein identifications as labels on one 'proteome map' image (ideally this would be a fused image using Union fusion). You can transfer protein labels to and from the map using the Dual View: right-click on a label and select 'copy' or 'move' in the context menu. To transfer all labels from one gel image to another, choose 'Labels -> Copy' or 'Labels -> Move', respectively. For more details about labels please consult the manual of Delta2D.
