Other Improvements in Delta2D 4.0
As with every new release, Delta2D 4.0 includes numerous smaller
enhancements and fixes for problems that were reported by our
users. We'd like to say Thank You! to everyone who has given us
feedback.
Statistics
We have introduced four nonparametric tests from the TMeV Nonpar
module. These tests have the advantage that they do not assume a
normal distribution for spot quantities.
- Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test
- for testing one factor in two experimental groups.
- Kruskal-Wallis Test
- for testing one factor in multiple experimental groups. This is a
generalization of the Wilcoxon rank sum test.
- Mack-Skillings Test
- for testing two factors in multiple experimental groups. You can use
this as a distribution-free alternative to the classic two-way ANOVA.
- Fisher Exact Test
- for testing nonrandom associations between two categorical
variables.
The meaning of colors in the t-test column of Delta2D's statistics
table was made more consistent: green indicates high confidence (low
p-values).
Operations on sets of gel images
When we introduced the new user interface we also made some
operations more consistent and intuitive. For example, you can now
select a gel image pair in a window and choose from its context menu.
Wherever you can select multiple gel images (for example in the
Project Explorer), you can now open a quantitation table that shows
just these images. Furthermore, you can open multiple quantitation
tables, such as one table for each replicate group, side-by-side.
Improved Image Fusion and Spot Transfer
Image fusion and spot transfer are now controlled by similar
dialogs. As with many other operations, you can select multiple
images in the Project Explorer and fuse them. Similarly, you can
select images that should become the target of a spot transfer.
Improved Performance
Delta2D 4.0 introduces substantial performance improvements in
large projects, for operations such as filtering or hiding
spots. These improvements were also made available in the most
recent updates of Delta2D 3.6.
Web Reports
You can now switch spot boundaries on or off in reports, we have
added mean and RSD columns to expression profiles. The dual channel
version of the spot album report now displays the reference image in a
dual channel version.
