What's new in Delta2D 4.2

Information Retrieval with the new UniProt Data Scout and Acceleration of Image Warping.

DECODON's new UniProt Scout – Automate Your Queries

DECODON's unique scout technology allows for fast and reliable information retrieval for your identified proteins. Fetch function, sequence, keywords, GeneOntology (GO), amino acids, and references within a few seconds with DECODON's new UniProt* scout.

Protein annotations can easily be attached to Delta2D labels. All you need is a protein and organism name (e.g. vimentin and homo sapiens) or a UniProt accession like P08670 or VIME_HUMAN, respectively.

Isoelectric point and molecular weight are determined automatically using EMBOSS pepstats – based on the sequence retrieved from UniProt.

All your data will be saved in one place – your Delta2D pool. You can easily export protein annotations using Delta2D's Label report.

ProteomeMapLabels

Summarize your findings and highlight outliers automatically: With Delta2D's Label Color Coding numerical annotations – such as isoelectric point or molecular weight – can be used for Label Color Coding.

The image on the left shows a proteome map with labels colored according to theoretical pI values. The position of the label allows for estimation the real pI. Delta2D's label color coding using scout data enables you to see differences between theoretical and estimated values at a glance: The green label of protein YumC shows that the real pI (as indicated by its position in the gel) differs from the one calculated based on the sequence. Further investigation might reveal a PTM, such as phosphorylation.

Speed Up Your Analysis with Parallelized Image Warping

Delta2D 4.2 supports multicore processing** to speed up automatic image warping. Several warpings are performed in parallel*** to accelerate time needed by approx. a factor of two.

warpingTime

You don't have to be a computer guru to benefit, since the number of cores is detected automatically by Delta2D's Job Manager.

* The Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) is a comprehensive resource for protein sequence and annotation data, maintained by "The UniProt Consortium".
** Requires multicore CPU such as AMD AthlonTM II, AMD PhenomTM II, IBM Power6, Intel CoreTM2, Intel CoreTM i7, Sun UltraSPARC T1, etc.
*** Compared to Delta2D 4.1.2, measured on a quad core CPU.
